Continuing education can become difficult when a family is managing limited income and rising household expenses. School fees are only one part of the cost. Students may also require uniforms, textbooks, stationery, transport and other learning materials. For children from financially weaker households, timely assistance can make the difference between facing repeated disruption and continuing their studies with confidence.

TL;DR: The Abhay Bhutada Foundation contributed INR 21 Lakh to the Deva Bhau School Scholarship programme to support 300 school students in Pune. The students came from families experiencing financial difficulties but had demonstrated commitment to their education. The assistance was intended to reduce some of the expenses connected with their schooling and encourage them to continue working towards their academic goals.

A Scholarship Programme Built Around Student Needs

The programme was organised jointly by the Abhay Bhutada Foundation and Hindu Garjana Pratishthan. The scholarships were distributed at a ceremony held in Pune on July 22, 2026.

Shri Chandrakant Patil, Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister, handed over the scholarships to the students. The event recognised the determination shown by the children and the efforts made by their families to keep them in school despite financial constraints.

The gathering was attended by Shri Dheeraj Ghate, President of Hindu Garjana Pratishthan, BJP Pune City President and Corporator. Shri Umesh Shelke, President of the Labour Union, was also present. Other attendees included Smt. Smita Vaste, Shri Amar Aawale, Smt. Manisha Ghate, Smt. Priyanka Shendge and office bearers and volunteers of Hindu Garjana Pratishthan.

Local Networks Guided the Selection Process

Hindu Garjana Pratishthan identified deserving students through its connections with schools and community workers. Since these individuals interacted with local families, they understood both the students’ academic performance and the financial pressures affecting their education.

This method helped direct the scholarships towards children who had worked consistently in school but required monetary assistance. It also recognised the important role played by parents and guardians, who often adjust household spending and make personal sacrifices to meet educational costs.

Education Described as an Equal Right

CA Abhay Bhutada spoke about the responsibilities carried by families that work to protect their children’s educational dreams. He said the INR 21 Lakh scholarship contribution was a small token of support for the 300 students and their families.

He also emphasised that education should be treated as an equal right rather than a privilege available to a limited few. According to CA Abhay Bhutada, supporting students is a collective responsibility. His remarks drew attention to the role that social organisations, schools, communities and individuals can play in helping children continue their education.

Timely Support Can Protect Academic Progress

Educational expenses can accumulate throughout the school year. Even when families manage regular fees, additional costs for books, uniforms, travel or classroom materials can create difficulties. Scholarship assistance can help families meet these requirements without diverting money from essential household needs.

Such support can also have a positive effect on students. Knowing that their education is being supported may encourage them to remain focused and take greater confidence in their abilities. It can also show them that their academic efforts have been recognised by people beyond their immediate family.

Wider Work Undertaken by the Foundation

Established in 2023, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation works across education, healthcare, sports, cultural preservation and relief activities. Its education-related efforts have included distributing STEM learning kits to rural and under-resourced schools and supporting scholarships for students pursuing higher education.

The Foundation has also backed sports competitions and contributed to Shivsrushti in Pune. During the Maharashtra floods, it donated Rs 5 Crore to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The organisation is fully funded by CA Abhay Bhutada and does not conduct

external fundraising.
